About

Support. Sisterhood. Scholarship.

Network of Sisters in Academia (NeSA) is the first international professional network for Muslim women academics. We facilitate a supportive space for Muslim women in academia to connect and thrive as individuals and scholars in their respective fields. We also host seminars and socials for our members. Established in 2017, the network has grown to a large global community. Our scholarly sisters are experts in a wide range of disciplines, from arts and humanities to social sciences and beyond.

NeSA is committed to being a safe space for our members that is non-judgemental, supportive, stimulating and underpinned by the principles of compassionate sisterhood and mutual respect.

NeSA is active across a number of social media platforms both public and closed. Our public platform is Twitter @NeSATweets and we maintain closed supportive groups on Facebook, WhatsApp and Signal. If you are a Muslim woman academic seeking to join the sisterhood, we'd love to hear from you! Reach out to us on Twitter or drop us an email via the Contact page.

During Ramadan 2021, NeSA held a fundraiser to raise the funds necessary to create a digital space and home for the network. This website is the outcome of the generosity of our sponsors, for which we are extremely grateful. For details of funds raised and expenditure, please drop us a line via the Contact page
